California’s favorite festival dance band offers a day of workshops at Valhalla in Tahoe, CA!

This will be a fun packed  day of Brazilian cultural arts workshops taught by members of SambaDá. culminating in show with SambaDá on the Great Lawn!

Capoeira and Maculelê: Capoeira is a unique opportunity to experience a blend of Brazilian martial arts, dance and culture. It provides a workout and builds confidence and self-esteem in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Maculelê is a stick dance that is done in pairs to a specific rhythm and part of the Capoeira culture.

Afro-brazilian dance: This class focuses on folkloric and Orixa-inspired dance, Samba Afro, and samba reggae, as well as other Brazilian dance styles and featuring live drumming.

Brazilian percussion: This class teaches basic Bateria rhythms and variations from the southeast and northeast of Brazil. Bring your shakers and bells. Snare drums can be used as “caixas” and floor tums can be used as “surdos”.
